1833 O-103 R2 Capped Bust Half Dollar

A common marriage, with an MS86 at the top of the census. There used to be an O-103a die state, but that has been discontinued as of 1998.

Variety Attribution: Obverse-Stars are mostly sharp, except star 8 which is mostly flat. Date is 7 3/4 mm. 18 is wider than 833. Cap to curl filled. A few specimens show recutting on all stars on left and such specimens are considered scarce.

Reverse- 50 C. is 1 1/4 mm. and high, with a very large 50 and 50 C. has been recut. Center line of stripe 3 extends sharply below shield and is pointed. Arrow to A is 1/2 mm. The upper left corner of the shield is broken. Most, but not all, specimens show a die defect line from base of the 5 to milling. I is centered under T. Two small dots like centering dots between lines 3 and 4 near left edge of shield and about 1/4 mm. apart.
