1827 O-139 R4- Capped Bust Half Dollar

A very tough marriage to obtain in higher grades. Few MS examples survive, with just one (MS62) popping up the last 10 years.

Variety Attribution: Obverse-Star 1 is 3/4 mm. from drapery. Date is 8 1/4 mm. and a shade high, with small thick figures. Some specimens show light parallel lines above cap. Usually there is only light partial milling and stars are flat and drawn to edge.

Reverse- 50 C. is 1 1/4 mm.and high. Arrow to A is slightly less than 1/2 mm. Lines 3 and 1 of stripes 1 and 4 to crossbar 2 and line 3 of stripe 6 to crossbar 3. There is a small ridge like a joint near the center of I in PLURIBUS. E in STATES distinctly recut at top.
