1825 O-111 R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar

This die marriage does appear rather frequently and is easy to spot by looking at 50 C and seeing the recut figures.

PCGS Graded AU53. Gray dirt toned, with darker toning at the periphery. Luster is silvery with hints of orange. The recut 50 C. is clear on the reverse.

Variety Attribution: Obverse-Star 13 touches curl. All stars large and flat. Date is 8 1/4 mm. Star 1 recut at inner point.

Reverse- 50C is 2 1/4 mm. set low and all three units are broadly recut. Arrow to A is 3/4 mm. Arrowheads are flat, close and connected by small die defects. AM are joined by a solid bar at base. ED in UNITED and RI in AMERICA are also joined at bases. The large left serif of first T in STATES touches curve of S. A small lump below E in UNITED.
