1822 O-106 R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar
O-106 R3 is below, O-106a R3 at bottom
A decent group of MS specimens exist for this marriage with an MS66 at the top. AU's are available, and the later die state is slightly more scarce. This one could be an R2 overall, with each die state being R3.
PCGS Graded AU55. A nice original example, with pleasing rolling luster and olive toning.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Stars 1 and 13 each 3/4 mm. from drapery and curl. Date is 8 mm. 18 clearly higher than 22 and the last 2 is heavier and more bold throughout than the first 2. Very early die state shows 6 die lines below star 13 at milling. (they are present on this example)
O-106a: Sharp die crack through center of the date. Other cracks from bust and milling to star 1 proceed to join all stars on left.
Reverse- 50C is 2 mm. Arrow to A is 1/4 mm. Right sides of T-I are in line. Line 2 of stripe 5 and line 1 of stripe 6 extend to the third crossbar.
